Emotional Freedom Technique At The Westlake Clinic
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an emotional, needle free version of acupuncture that is based on new discoveries regarding the connection between your body's subtle energies, your emotions, and your health. EFT has been reported successful in thousands of cases covering a huge range of emotional, health and performance issues. It often works where nothing else will.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) was developed by Gary Craig around the early 90’s, although continues to be refined by many people to this day. It is one of the many forms of METs (Meridian Energy Techniques) now available, and perhaps one of the easiest to learn.
EFT originated from TFT (Thought Field Therapy), which was discovered by acupuncturist and psychologist Dr Roger Callahan. While Callahan developed the basic concept and structure, Craig had the vision to refine it and make it accessible to everyone. He also, along with many other therapists working in this field, began to realise the broader possibilities for EFT.
The principles behind EFT are that a thought or memory triggers a disruption in the body’s energy system and if this is a negative thought or memory it is experienced as psychological, physical or emotional pain. By clearing the disruption in the body's energy system through EFT the pain subsides and the client returns to good health both mentally and phsyically.
EFT works by clearing the blockage or disruption by tapping on the end points of the body’s energy meridians (while thinking of a specific issue) which sends pulses of energy to rebalance the body’s energy system in relation to that thought/specific issue. Shifting energy changes the way the brain processes information about a particular issue, and so tapping while tuned in to the issue is like rewiring or rerouting the brain's conditioned negative response. You can imagine how liberating this is if you or someone you know has suffered from a phobia, or traumatic memories. EFT also works in the same way to release the limiting thoughts and beliefs that get in the way of your success, happiness, health and inner peace.
EFT can help many different issues, however EFT does have much better success rates with some conditions than others. Some of these include fears and phobias, headaches, addictions, trauma, abuse (sexual, physical or mental), allergies, self-confidence/image, dyslexia and anger/stress. Others that people have reported respond well to EFT are weight loss, arthritis, phantom pain, anxiety disorders and even warts.
